Yuko Mohri and Jason Waite in conversation

6 July 2018 | 6.30-7.30pm

White Rainbow, 47 Mortimer Street, London, W1W 8HJ

To coincide with Yuko Mohri’s forthcoming solo exhibition Voluta at Camden Arts Centre, White Rainbow hosts a talk between the independent curator Jason Waite and Yuko Mohri. Mohri and Waite will discuss their work and reflect on the social imaginaries of contemporary Japan, with particular reference to socially-engaged and participatory art practices following the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster in 2011.

This discussion will make reference to White Rainbow’s current exhibition by Chim↑Pom, the Tokyo-based art collective known for their sharp social critique and provocative actions in public space and in contested territories around the world, including the Fukushima Nuclear Zone, Japan, and the U.S.-Mexico border.

Chim↑Pom and Jason Waite are part of the larger collective Don’t Follow the Wind, an ongoing collaboration between a group of international artists and curators. Working with former residents of the Fukushima exclusion zone in Japan, the group installed an exhibition inside the restricted radioactive zone surrounding the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, which remains inaccessible until the radiation returns to safe levels.

Free, but booking is essential.

Tickets for the event can be reserved at Camden Art Centre’s website here.

White Rainbow presented Yuko Mohri’s first UK solo exhibition in 2017. For more information please click here.
